Prayer Calendar July 3- 27, 2001 Pray ... that the word of God may have free
course, and be glorified, just as it is with you. Please use this Prayer Calendar as a guide to pray regularly for all our travels and efforts -- both mine, and those of our Romanian coworkers. Beginning with Tuesday, July 3, this calendar suggests specific needs for which your prayers are solicited. Keep time differences in mind. Romanian time is seven hours ahead of Eastern Time in the U. S. So, pray ahead a day or so. That way, you will not be praying for things that have already happened. Above all, pray that in every place and every circumstance our Lord Jesus Christ may be honored. Thank you. TUESDAY, JULY 3: I will be flying standby again on this trip. First, thank God for the airline pilot who gave me the Buddy Pass. Then, pray that God will help me make the right connections, first to Atlanta, then to Paris, France. Continue to pray for Doris as well. She will be here at home as usual. Without her prayers, encouragement, and advice I would never have started this ministry. Thank God also for the friends and family who are always ready to help her in case of any need that may arise in my absence. WEDNESDAY, JULY 4: Pray that I will arrive in Paris in time to make my connection to Budapest, Hungary. Pray that I will make the necessary connection with ground transportation to get me to Dej, Romania today. Pray that the shipment of garden tractors and computers will arrive today, as scheduled, so that we can get to work right away. THURSDAY, JULY 5: Pray for my hosts in Romania -- Nelu and Corina Pop, and their children, Andre and Priscilla. They have become like family and always make me feel at home. Ask God to bless them for their faithful service to Christ. FRIDAY, JULY 6: Pray for Vasile and Sorina Pop and their daughters, Ada and Ema. They are like my family too. Vasile is the Director of the Somes Mission Society, and often works too hard. Pray that he will find more time to spend with his family. SATURDAY, JULY 7: Pray for the men and women of the Somes Mission Society. These are the wonderful people whom God uses to do so much to build up and renew Baptist Churches in and around the city of Dej. SUNDAY, JULY 8: Pray for the services in all the churches, that Christ may be glorified. Pray for Dani and Rodica, who will be married today. Dani has remained faithful in the church at Bobalna, and Rodica has been active in the ministry of the House of Hope, a home for orphan girls. Pray for Emanuel Baptist Church in Dej. This church, which has provided much of the leadership for the Mission Society, is looking for a pastor. Pray for the elders, Nelu Pop and Iakov Selin, who are leading the church until God leads a new pastor to them. MONDAY, JULY 9: Pray for the camps that are being held for AWANA children and youth. Thank God that we have been able to ship tents and sleeping bags, and pray that we will be able to use them the rest of this summer. Pray, also, that we will be able to obtain enough AWANA materials to meet the needs of the churches who want to start groups this fall. TUESDAY, JULY 10: Pray for us as we try to get the garden tractors assembled and put to work in the villages. Pray that God will put it on the heart of some agriculturists (Agriculture teachers or Extension Agents) to volunteer their time and expertise to help the village farmers know how to increase their production. WEDNESDAY, JULY 11: Pray that we will be able to find a way to upgrade the village economies. Pray especially for those who hope to come to Romania and help establish bakeries in some of the villages. THURSDAY, JULY 12: Pray for Ioan Ungur, the Mayor of the City of Dej. He has a heart for his people. Ask God to give him wisdom in his leadership. Pray for us to be successful in obtaining used computers for the City to establish a vocational program for handicapped persons. Mayor Ungur has also requested help with medical supplies. Ask God to make those supplies available for the needs of the poor in the city. FRIDAY, JULY 13: Pray about medical care for poor villagers. We believe God might want us to help develop a clinic for the poor. Ask God to give us the place, the personnel and the supplies we need to do that. SATURDAY, JULY 14: Pray that the Pop families and I will be able to take a holiday together again. I have learned that neither family has had a real day off since our last one in March. SUNDAY, JULY 15: Pray again for all the churches. Thank God for the new signs of life not only in the new churches, but also in those that have begun to experience renewal and growth. Pray that God will meet the transportation needs of all of the pastors and churches. David, our driver, has a new job with a Christian businessman who can afford to pay him more than we can. Thank God for this opportunity for David, and ask God to help us find the right driver for the mission car. MONDAY, JULY 16: Pray for the girls and workers in the House of Hope, as they work to make a new life for the girls. Pray that a replacement will be found for Amy, a volunteer house parent who has returned to the United States. Pray for the Internet Café that we are hoping to start. Ask God to give us not only the computer hardware, but also to help the telephone company develop the system that will make us the most effective in using the internet for His glory. TUESDAY, JULY 17: Continue to pray for efforts to improve the economic situation of the villagers. Many former communists are winning elections because the people do not know how to provide for themselves. Pray that we will find products for village industries to supplement the income of village families and the village churches. WEDNESDAY, JULY 18: Pray for the church at Giurgiesti as they follow up on the results of the camps they have just completed. Pray for the men who are considering volunteer service at the new Bible institute in Ukraine. Ask God to lead them in their decision. THURSDAY, JULY 19: Pray for the church at Targu Lapus, that they will be able to complete the remodeling of their building and pay for it as agreed. FRIDAY, JULY 20: Pray for the little village church in Galgau. This church has only six baptized members, but had sixty children come to a meeting to learn about AWANA. Pray that they will receive the materials and the trained leadership to work with these children. SATURDAY, JULY 21: Pray for me, and the leaders of the Somes Mission Circle, as we plan for events this fall. Pray for the timing for our volunteers to come, and that God will make it possible for them to meet their goals. SUNDAY, JULY 22: Pray for all the villages churches, that God will give them the leadership needed for their individual ministries. Pray that God will give those leaders the needed spiritual gifts and make the training available for the churches to carry out their work. MONDAY, JULY 23: Pray for a safe trip to Bucharest, and ask God to help me see everyone I need to see. Pray for Ionut Marcus and me as we discuss the possibility of starting a bakery in Dobricel. Pray for Holt International and their interim Director, Mona Gotteszmann. Thank God for her growth in Christ and her desire to serve him faithfully. TUESDAY, JULY 24: Pray for Project Ruth and their ministry with Gypsy children. Ask God to show us how we can be most helpful, and to give us the resources we need to carry out our assigned task. WEDNESDAY, JULY 26: Pray for us, as we "wrap things up." Ask God to give us wisdom as we plan for future work. Also pray for a safe trip to Budapest in good time to meet my flight to Paris Thursday morning. THURSDAY, JULY 27: Pray that I will make all the connections and have a safe trip back home. |
