When Elpis Foundation was formed in July 1999, its primary purpose was to meet the needs of poor village people.

From the beginning, we have helped needy people either directly, or through other helpful institutions. Elpis has given clothing and food for prisoners and their families after their release from prison. Christmas gifts are distributed to poor children through the public schools. Christian counseling takes place both in person and through the mails. Medical supplies and equipment have been given to city hospitals. Orphans have been cared for after they are too old for public orphanages. Clothing and food have been given to poor families as well as to Bible institutes and orphanages.

Christmas gift distribution in a village school

During the last year, 2001, we helped approximately 100 families and 30 various institutions with such things as food, clothing and medical supplies amounting to more than $50,000.00 in value. Among the many institutions we have helped are foundations, Bible colleges, hospitals, public schools, orphanages, cities and other similar organizations.

So far in 2002, we have sustained 35 families financially with monthly support to subsidize their meager income.

In July, 2002 a group of American volunteers with Elpis painted the dining room at an orphanage in Ilisua, where these children live.

Young people are required to leave orphanages at the age of 18 – sometimes earlier. Often they are not well prepared for life. For several years now, Elpis has helped some of these orphans with education and in other ways. Traian was such a person. Elpis helped meet his needs for food, clothing, a place to stay and help through school. This year, he graduated from a Christian school and has married a Christian girl.

Please pray for the following:

  •  Financial support for the families we help
  •   A van to help transport aid to the families and institutions
  •  Funds and volunteers to complete the warehouse and office
  •   Funds to continue to help with scholarships for needy students
